Cage-Free Boarding

CA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 2000 and staffed entirely by volunteers. Veterinary care is provided prior to adoption according to the dog’s needs, always including spaying or neutering and dental. Once we receive your application we will contact your vet (if you are a previous pet owner) for a vet check. This is just to make sure all of your past and current animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines and well cared for.

Rawhide bones and other edible chews can pose a choking and blockage risk. In fact, this is a much bigger risk than contamination or digestive irritation. If your dog swallows large pieces of rawhide, the rawhide can get stuck in the esophagus or other parts of the digestive tract. We make sure that all our rescues get a medical check, all necessary vaccinations and get spayed/neutered. Ensuring that claws are kept to a safe length is an essential part of grooming.

House of Hounds is completely Cage-Free, meaning your dog will never go in a cage, run, or be confined to a small area. Our facility is creatively designed to offer doggy daycare and boarding while you’re at work or away from home. Since 1987, the non-profit Greyhound Adoption Center (Houndsavers) has rescued, rehabilitated and found loving homes for thousands of greyhounds. For peace of mind and safety of all, House of Hounds has a comprehensive screening process for ALL dogs. Just remember all participants must be spayed/neutered, and pass our temperament screening. When your dog is visiting, please bring their food, treats, and any medication they will be taking during their stay. Please bring only the amount of food that is needed in zip lock baggies, we do not have room to store large plastic totes.
If you have visited our site before please note that new rescues are posted often. We usually have Afghan Hounds of varying ages available for adoption. In addition, please do not judge the Senior hounds as being too old. Adult and Senior dogs are most always house trained, full of love and are just wanting to be given that chance to show you how special they can be. Many of the Senior hounds get over looked and will most likely live out their life at Rescue if not given a chance. Please contact us about additional information on any of the Rescues and consider giving a Senior dog a chance along with the younger ones.
